According to what I've read and how the anime progressed, I guess there will be almost no chance for second season, unless the Novel author can release considerable (around three or more) volumes within a year.
Almost 70% of the released stories are covered by the Anime, and the rest uncovered one just sidestory about Rita-Ryuunosuke, and the lives of "new" Sakurasou resident, including Himemiya Iori, Kanna Hase, Kanda Yuuko and Mitaka Misaki :)
A second season depends on two variables. First must be the reception. I don't live in Japan, so I don't know whether it was received well or not. But if it's so, another variable is still in play here: the novels. Like Ethrundr said, Sakurasou has covered most of the light novels, and there isn't much to make a story out of anymore. We'll have to wait for the new volumes of the novels before we can say that a second season will come.
in my opinion i know some of you may have noticed but the last episode about the last 5-8 min seemed like a trailer for the a new season i won't be surprised if the author decides to make more volumes a continuation if i might say on the anime sakurasou no pet no kanojo because a lot of viewers or most of the viewers was given a good impression by the anime that includes myself i enjoyed it very much and i would expect others too ,so it trully wont be a surprise to see a new season or atleast a note from the creator about planning to make a new season before the start of christmas
But even if they covered most of the light novels, even it's not a good decision, if the reception's good enough, couldn't they make a story independent of the light novels, or even just take the rest of the story from the author directly? It would be more convenient wouldn't it?
It would be nice for a season 2 but i don't think it would really fit in. I mean, the story is kinda already finished haha. I mean sure they could continue it through their senior year but, that would also have to make the the Author of the LNs continue the story and it could require lots of time. I think the ending is pretty good. Like someone said before, if the second season had like 12 episodes, i guess that would be alright too. Don't want to make the Anime drag on too long haha. (In my opinion. XD)
I think The author should make some fillers so it can be created as a second season just like fairy tail.Or Why not make some stories that will lead Sakurasou to its climax? like what happen after all of them can be reunite again or something like that.
Because its a shame to leave this wonderful anime without finish its story.
An OVA would be great way to finish this anime. Base from what I've heard and read, there are 9 main novels while 7 of them were use in the anime and if so, that makes 2 more remaining novels. Although, there would be a total 12 novels(which the 12th would be release this july) but the remaing 3 are said to be short stories or more likely side stories. 2 more novels are to short to start a new season so I hope they would atleast release an OVA about the remaing novels.
Still I hope the author would somehow create a new LN series. A sequel to Sakurasou no pet na kanojo and the new characters seen in the anime would be the new main characters
Moshi2. Eto.... I cannot wait to see Sakurasou no pet na Kanojo (season 2). Well, If season 2 or the OVA are according to the Novel, then I cannot wait any longer to see Sorata and Mashiro to be a SweeTy LoveLy couple....HEHEHE...!!!! Shina Mahiro hontoni Kawai desu ne!!!
Well, if we want a second season, then reasonably we must patiently wait for the novels to be progressed little bit further, since a season of an anime will require at least 3-4 volume of the Light Novel. In the best case, since we still lack 2 volumes, this will takes 1 up to 2 years.
Rushing the production house for second season is useless at this point, because the issue we had now is the shortage of story, which is a problem on the author side. Even production house can do nothing about this.
On the other hand, if we can be satisfied by a movie or an OVA, then it might be happen, since movie and OVA just need 1 or 2 volumes of the Light Novel, which currently available.
the light novel ends at volume 12 which is coming out in a week excluding the side novels that makes 10 volumes. the anime ends at volume 6 so they still have some room to cover not to mention excluding the side novels they could always throw in some anime exclusives for a few filter episodes. it'd be just such a waste for them to leave the series half done especially considering season 1 was pretty enjoyable
